About Image Metadata

  • EXIF Data: Exchangeable Image File Format data includes camera settings like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length, flash status, and the camera model used to take the photo.
  • GPS Data: Some cameras and smartphones embed GPS coordinates into photos, revealing where the image was taken. This can include latitude, longitude, and altitude.
  • IPTC Data: International Press Telecommunications Council metadata includes editorial information like captions, keywords, copyright notices, and authorship details.
  • XMP & Text Metadata: Many PNG, WebP, JPEG, and AVIF files also store titles, descriptions, authors, software details, and workflow notes in XMP packets or plain text chunks.
  • Privacy Note: Image metadata can reveal sensitive information such as your location or device details. All processing happens locally in your browser - no data is uploaded to any server.
