About Image Conversion

This tool converts images between common formats using your browser's built-in graphics capabilities. Nothing is uploaded - all conversion happens locally on your device.

Raster Formats

  • PNG - Lossless compression with full alpha transparency. Great for screenshots, icons, and graphics with sharp edges.
  • JPEG - Lossy compression that excels at photographs. Smaller files but no transparency support.
  • WebP - Modern format from Google supporting both lossy and lossless modes. Typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPEG or PNG at similar quality.
  • AVIF - Next-generation format based on AV1. Offers excellent compression but encoder support varies between browsers.
  • BMP - Uncompressed bitmap format. Useful for compatibility with legacy software.

Vector Formats

  • SVG - XML-based vector format. Scales to any size without losing quality. When you upload an SVG you can keep it as SVG or rasterize it to PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, or BMP.

How to Use

  1. Drop an image onto the upload area or click to browse.
  2. Pick your target format from the dropdown. The list adapts based on whether your input is vector or raster.
  3. Optionally adjust quality (for lossy formats) or resize the output.
  4. Click Convert, then download your converted image.

Browser Support

Most browsers can encode PNG, JPEG, and WebP. AVIF encoding requires a recent version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. If your browser cannot produce a chosen format, the converter will tell you and suggest an alternative.
